Anyone that is on the male fashion part of TikTok has probably heard about the Starboy style or Starboy aesthetic. Just like Old Money or Quiet Luxury, it one day popped into existence and right onto our For You pages. We want to find out what this new trend is all about and give you some ideas on how to style this look.
What is Starboy Style?
Firstly, the Starboy aesthetic is the new hot trend on social media. One could say it is the successor of the old money trend, or maybe even the cooler and younger version of it. We found that it is in fact not that easy to put a finger on what exactly makes or breaks the Starboy style. Sometimes it feels more like a general vibe these outfits and the men wearing them transport. Nevertheless, we found some distinct pieces that will give you the perfect Starboy look.
When we talk about this Starboy vibe we see young man, dressed in mostly black with a certain aura surrounding them. Something mysterious, elegant, effortless and nonchalant. When you think of celebrities, that give off this exact vibe, we are talking about Jacob Elodri, Christian Bale or Austin Butler. One other perfect example of this aesthetic is the namesake The Weeknd.
What pieces do you need for the Starboy Aesthetic?
For the proper Starboy Style, it is more about colors and materials than concrete pieces. Here is what you should look out for:
- Vinyl: This is a bit of a tricky material to start with, but if you combine it with more casual pieces and materials like cotton, it can give you a very elegant and luxurious vibe.
- Leather: If we would have to find one definite Starboy Style piece, it would have to be the leather jacket. Whether you go for a classic fit or something more oversized, it will fit perfectly into the Starboy Aesthetic.
- Black Cable knit: Like we mentioned before, the Starboy Look is mostly black. While vinyl pieces might seem a bit extravagant, the Starboy Style is still on the more formal side. Therefore, a black cable knit jumper or cardigan will complement your outfits perfectly.
- Black Jeans: Any cool Starboy owns a pair of well fitting black jeans. While a classic pair of black pants can work as well, the jeans will make you look just that tiny bit more suave.

Our next look is way more daring than the first one, but we are totally in love with the centerpiece of this outfit: the vinyl pants from Courrèges. Just like the starry night sky, these pants are breathtakingly gorgeous. The neutral shirt and bag will bring them out even more. We opted to pair them with the sneaker favorite of the season, the adidas samba. For the watch, we wanted to shine a light on the upcoming brand NUUN Official.

The most significant piece any Starboy needs in their closet is a good leather jacket. For this piece it would be great if you found a vintage option, if not you have to take a look at this stunning new Prada jacket. The H&M pants are nicely cut, so you don’t have to spend all of your money going for a designer option. For the shoes, we swapped out the sneakers and went for a classic penny loafer, that strikes with its timeless design and unmatched quality. A pearl necklace should top the look as it is a staple in any Starboys wardrobe.

It starts to seem like the Starboy look is much about what you wear on top, because the statement AMI Paris cardigan is literally screaming for this aesthetic. Just like in the look before, we put a basic and simple tank top under it and paired some cargo shorts with it. Now, the AMI Paris cardigan is not the only showstopper in this look. Like we mentioned many times before, the shoe of the summer has to be the adidas Samba, but hold your breath because this collab with Wales Bonner will take over the fashion community. So be fast and grab a pair as long as they are still available. The D&G eyewear is what tops off this late summer Starboy look.

What would be an outfit guide without a good denim look? Since the Starboy look is in fact not that different from the old money look, it is obvious that there will be some wide cotton shirts in every Starboys wardrobe. But we don’t want to go too basic with the outfit, so we decided to pair it with really baggy pants and a nice classic cap, to bring this look to life. While the sneakers might look like your average Dad shoes, they are in fact the hot new collaboration between Asics and JJJJound. Put on a pearl necklace and your favorite watch, and you won’t have a lonely night like the Weeknd.
